City of Pittsburgh Youth Commission Applications Now Open!

The City of Pittsburgh is seeking passionate and engaged young people to join the newly restructured Youth Commission. This is a unique opportunity for youth and young adults to contribute directly to city decision-making, shape policies, and represent the diverse voices of Pittsburgh.

About the New Youth Commission

The revised ordinance strengthens civic engagement and ensures youth voices are central to policymaking. The commission now consists of two advisory bodies:

Youth Council (Ages 14–18)

Provides high school-aged youth the chance to engage with their community, develop leadership skills, and contribute to city initiatives affecting young residents.
Eligibility:
• Ages 14–18
• City of Pittsburgh resident
• Commitment to civic engagement and youth advocacy
• Reflects the diversity of Pittsburgh’s youth

Youth Commission (Ages 19–30)

Serves as an advisory body for young adults to collaborate with city leaders, influence policy, and ensure youth perspectives are represented in city governance.
Eligibility:
• Ages 19–30
• City of Pittsburgh resident
• Commitment to civic engagement and youth advocacy

How to Apply

Applications are open online via the Youth Commission EngagePage. Interested applicants must submit their applications by November 15 at 5:00 PM. A promotional flyer is available to help spread the word.
