Northside Common Ministries

Northside Common Ministries, an affiliate of Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania, is a non-sectarian, non-profit, community-based organization established in 1982 by a collaboration of 30 local churches to meet the increasing needs of the homeless population. They offer an emergency shelter and a food pantry.

Pleasant Valley Emergency Shelter accommodates the needs of 25 men and male-identifying individuals who are homeless every night of the year.  The shelter opens daily at 4:30 p.m. and provides residents with safe, secure sleeping quarters, a hot shower, and a warm evening meal.

The Northside Food Pantry provides a week’s worth of food for over 950 food insecure Northside individuals and families each month.  Among local food pantries, it is the largest single client of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
