Providence Connection
Description: Providence supports 400 children and their families by providing childcare and family support services on Pittsburgh’s northside. They have many different opportunities to support their work and Northside families including building maintenance, classroom help, and technical and office assistance.

The Aviary
Description: The National Aviary seeks outgoing and dynamic individuals who will help to provide visitors with an outstanding experience. Join other bird and nature lovers at America’s only independent indoor nonprofit zoo dedicated exclusively to birds.

Urban Impact Foundation
Description: Urban Impact Foundation was founded in 1995 by Pastor Ed & Tammy Glover. They saw a growing need in the North Side area with at-risk youth and formed Urban Impact: a faith-based non-profit that has been serving the youth of Pittsburgh’s North Side for more than 20 years. By working to meet the needs of the whole person through holistic community outreach, Urban Impact can bring transformative hope to Pittsburgh “one person, one family, one block at a time.” UIF works with over 1,900 students each year in Kindergarten through 12th grade through our four program departments: Education, Performing Arts, Athletics, and Options (mentoring) programs. We provide holistic programs that are very low-cost or free to our students.

The Children’s Museum
Description: The Children’s Museum offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals or groups who enjoy helping children and families have fun while learning or assisting on creative projects. Volunteer opportunities are available for rising 8th graders, through adults as well as a variety of internships.

United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania
Description: The United Way focuses on solving our community’s toughest issues by bringing together the region’s best and brightest. Auberle
Description: Auberle is open to using the skills and resources specific to the volunteer. In the past, volunteers have assisted Auberle with conducting mock interviews, resume writing help, financial management classes, etc. Auberle is open to other ideas from volunteers. Health
Church Union, Kids Meal Network
Description: Kids Meal Network is a meal program that provides nutritious meals and fun activities during the long weeks of summer when school lunches are not available. You can get involved as an individual or with a group of friends. Each meal location has a designated Site Manager that oversees food service. We welcome people who are interested in helping serve food, just want to talk with the kiddos or wish to bring special programming to the location. Appropriate clearances are required.

Pressley Ridge
Description: Pressley Ridge is a social impact organization that strengthens communities in which they serve. Their services include foster care, mental and behavioral health – offered in home, school, community or residential settings – and specialized education for students, including autism and deafness. There are a variety of places that volunteers can assist in the work that Pressley Ridge is doing in our community.

Church Union, Dailey Bread
Description: Daily Bread serves meals 3 times weekly to our homeless and underemployed neighbors. You can get involved as an individual or with a group of friends. Bring your own yummy foods, provide funds to purchase food or simply offer to serve. There is always an on-site staff member to greet you and to help with food service.

Grounded
Description: For more than a decade, Grounded has been helping communities transform themselves. The biggest changes come from within and they are proud to help neighbors take action – providing tools, resources, and connections – so they can create the change that’s best for their community. Grounded often needs volunteers for two different projects. North side ambassadors work all around the Northside maintain lots around the northside and often there are needs helping with this work. Second, in an effort to gain community control over vacant land, help is needed in collecting signatures of community support. Deutschtown Music Festival
Description: The Deutschtown Music Festival is a free, two-day music festival that taes place each summer in the historic Deutschtown on the Northside. The event needs many volunteers to help set up, serve as music festival hosts, man an information booth, and much more!

New Hazlett Theater
Description: The New Hazlett Theater strives to provide a nurturing, collaborative environment for artists. They leverage people, space and technology to create and present challenging and dynamic art. Volunteers are always needed to usher at events. Safety
Foundation of Hope
Description: Volunteers are always needed in the Chaplaincy, Pre-Release, and Aftercare programs with Foundation of Hope. Volunteers teach classes, visit inmates, lead worship services, serve as mentors, help with office work, and perform many other tasks. The Foundation of HOPE recruits and trains mature volunteers from religious and secular communities in the Pittsburgh area.
